Summary/Abstract: In its spring 1995 Newsletter, the American Council of Learned Societies published an article on the internationalization of scholarship. Among the themes covered were the disintegration of barriers to scholarly exchange with the former East Bloc countries and the problems that still remain for intellectual collaboration. These include financial constraints that retard upgrading of facilities in the various countries; insufficient infrastructure for (and unequal access to) fax and E-mail; and uncertainties in the definition of intellectual property rights.
