Summary/Abstract: In the debate whether Ježeva kućica (The Hedgehog’s Little House), a poetic work of the Serbian writer Branko Ćopić, written in Serbian standard language, can officially find its place on the list of literary works for the 1st class of the elementary school, the author of this article thinks that it is not to be put on that list. Although the poem has been partly adapted to the Croatian language, it was not translated as a whole, and as such (untranslated) it would be incomprehensible for Croatian pupils or it would require too many explanations for all elementary school pupils regardless of their age.
