Summary/Abstract: The article pays homage to Dr. Dan Munteanu (1937–2017) – Corresponding member of the Romanian Academy of Sciences, President of the latter’s Commission for the Preservation of Natural Monuments, Founding President of the Romanian Ornithological Society. In 2003 the Romanian Academy of Sciences granted Dr. Munteanu the Order of Academic Merit for his outstanding professional activity in the field of nature preservation. To honor his memory, his activity and achievements must be continued.
