Summary/Abstract: The United Nations Organization was created to maintain international peace and security, to develop friendly relations among states with the principle of respect the equality of rights for all nations. In over 60 years of existence, the UN has conducted a rich and complex activity, following events that have succeeded in the international community in the second half of the twentieth century and the first decade of the XXI century. Even if there were situations where the UN has proven incapable of making decisions in times of crisis, the international community of states, increasingly facing more and more numerous and complex challenges, would still need this organization.
