Safety of downhill skiing and skiing simulators

Summary/Abstract: The goal of the paper is to discuss selected issues related to the safety of skiing, and the possibility of using ski simulators to better prepare skiers, and thus reduce the number of accidents. The paper looks at selected issues of ski injury epidemiology, as well as direct causes of ski accidents and falls. The growth of awareness and knowledge across Poland on the use of equipment for ski exercises without snow, as well as the development of inventions in this area has also been taken into consideration. The paper analyses modern types of ski simulators, scrutinising the research findings with regard to the degree of mapping of real skiing, and pointing to the possibility of using ski simulators for accident prevention.
