Summary/Abstract: After 1990, in Romania, the respect for and protection of intellectual rights have been reestablished considering the strengthening on the international stage of the standardized and absolute regulation and recognition of human rights, such as the first generation of human rights enshrined in the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. Following the accession to the European Community, the field of intellectual property in Romania has deviated from the EU protection standards, infringing on the principles of subsidiarity and proportionality, after amending the Law on copyright and related rights in order to implement European directives on intellectual property law.
