Summary/Abstract: In Orthodox Christianity, time becomes sacred through the Church services and for this reason, we will discuss in this paper about the liturgical time, whose main particularity is its cyclical nature. Unlike the linear time of the history, made of unique moments, the liturgical time consists of cycles which valuate through repetitive commemoration (during precise periods of time) a series of events (and important figures) considered as essential for the salvation of humanity, at the level of the liturgical services. The Orthodox theologians consider this as a symbol of eternity. Our aim is to study the cyclical structure of the sacred time and its role – under the conditions of an awareness of the pedagogy of the Church – in the spiritual life of the believers. We will refer to the liturgical texts of the Orthodoxy, translated into French by important French Orthodox theologians, whose authority is unanimously acknowledged.
