IDENTIFYING THE MAIN ISSUES AND FACTORS LEADING TO THE SOCIAL EXCLUSION OF INACTIVE ELDERLY PEOPLE IN THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA: SUMMARY OF SURVEY RESULTS

Summary/Abstract: The elderly population in the Republic of Moldova, reaching retirement ageaccording to the legislation in force, often face a number of problems, which can have negativeconsequences for the elderly person as well as for society. The given problems can be grouped in amultivalent and multilateral concept – social exclusion. An opinion survey on social exclusion of theelderly population inactive in the labor market of the Republic of Moldova was conducted in orderto determine the main factors of social exclusion of the elderly people. The results of the surveyallowed us to identify the following factors of social exclusion: age, health status, low incomes,termination of employment.
