Summary/Abstract: This article overviews online communication form a historical perspective in theattempt to shape the understanding of its beginnings, which is required for a deeper insight into thedigital age. It is well-acknowledged that communication mainly aims to send information and ensurecooperation between people and institutions. Therefore, we believe that a study investigating thehistory of methods used for sending information acquires a special importance. In this study, weconcentrate on public administration as a party in the process of online communication, making someconnections with the issues deriving from the activity of economic entities.
