Summary/Abstract: In this study, the names of the plants that are formed with the animal names in the dictionaries have been determined and evaluated based on the latest Ottoman dictionaries, Kâmus-ı Türkî, Lügat-ı Nâcî, Müntahabât-ı Lügât-ı Osmâniyye and Lehçe-i Osmânî dictionaries. Addressing the topic of plants and naming them facilitate the understanding and having idea about Turkish language, culture and geography. While naming the plants, the features such as their growing place, usage, appearance, color are taken into consideration. A connection is established between the plants and some objects and living entities as well. One of the established connections is its relationship with animals. Various features of animals were observed and used in naming plants. The words which were determined about the plant subject are given in a table and classified under certain headings. In the study, the words that came up with animal names in the Kâmus-ı Türkî, Lügat-ı Nâcî, Müntahabât-ı Lügât-ı Osmâniyye and Lehçe-i Osmânî dictionaries are introduced, and information about plant culture is presented. As a result of the examination, it is understood that the plant names created with animal names received these names by analogy.
