Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the difficulties in the recognition of the Croatian language abroad. Special attention is paid to the status of the Croatian language at the International Tribunal for Former Yugoslavia in the Hague and to the questions of whether and how Croatian will become a fully valid official language in the EU once Croatia has become its member.
