Summary/Abstract: The current volume displays, like the overarching concept of identity featuring prominently in some of the following articles, constructedness, continuity, change. Like identity, what follows does not consist of proud expressions of stable truths and their accompanying statements. Regarding identity and the humanities and the social sciences, which meet and peacefully coexist here, almost everything in the world we inhabit is culturally constructed (with such notable exceptions as gravity).
