Access to Firearms in Concepts of Contemporary Polish Political Thought

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the most important political circles and social movements considering the ideas of extending access to firearms in Poland in their programs. The research problem which the authors will attempt to solve concerns two components, based on research questions: Do Polish political circles base their thoughts on access to firearms on references to specific currents of political philosophy? To what extent did the solutions proposed by these circles differ from the provisions of the current law on arms and ammunition? The authors analyse the political opinions of Polish parties and compare them with the libertarian thought. Moreover, they analyse the current Polish law on arms and ammunition and compare it with the proposals made by supporters of liberalization of access to arms.
