Summary/Abstract: The study looks into the structural function of the feuilleton-novel with precise references to Theohar Alexi’s novel, Babeta. Roman original. In the 19th century, the publication of a novel in volume was guaranteed by the serial format of the text. Therefore, the comparison between the feuilleton-format and the book format of Alexi’s novel would reveal the structural state of the plot together with the contraction methods of the feuilleton-novel (the clipping process of the text – from volume to feuilleton –, the insertion technique and the narrative intrusion). Furthermore, the feuilleton-novel gradually arouses the readers’ interest in the plot by using specific methods of “seduction” which are embedded in the structural form of the feuilleton. All in all, the feuilleton-novel benefits from a form that captivates the reader’s attention.
