Summary/Abstract: The Archive in Toruń resources keep an extremely interesting inventory list of movable property belonging to Przesmno manor (Przeczno at present) – the property situated in the Chełmno Land, made in 1733 for an order of Lukrecja from the Bagniewskis Bajerska, Franciszek Józef Bajerski’s, honorable judge of Michałowo widow. Its exceptional character is due to the fact that it consists of, apart from typical list of movable goods and household objects, the family archives, and first of all – a huge library. Very few catalogues of private libraries have preserved till our times. It is known that in the area of the Royal Prussia big libraries belonged to families of: Cema, Guldenstern, Konarski, Krokowski, Kruszyński or Sierakowski. Some of the collections were scattered in 17th century, the others were destroyed in fires of 19th century, some of them survived the times of Poland partitions and their end took place in 20th century, during WW II. Knowledge of their existence has been common, although hardly any of their contents lists have survived till our times, not to mention the books themselves. The exceptions refer to “Catalogus librorum” of the Kruszyńskis from Nawra, made in 1780, and the other – older of about half of a century – the book catalogue of Franciszek Józef Bajerski, described here. The Bajerskis were one of the few Chełmno Land families which history connected with that land reached back to Teutonic times, and they belonged to important nobility at the turn of 15th century. The family significance declined in 18th century, although some of its representatives still took active part in political life of the province, like: Aleksander – grandfather, Mikołaj – father and Franciszek Józef Michałowski honorable judge, first land judge in the family for over 120 years. We know that the library was the property of the last one mentioned here, but his ancestors could have contributed to the book collecting. The article presents Franciszek Józef Bajerski, land judge of Michałowo. The text is completed with source edition of his property, made some months after his death on request of the widow.
