Summary/Abstract: Enea Borza was the son of Alexandru Borza, a remarkable Romanian botanist. Enea Borza was born in Alba Iulia and inherited from his father discipline and a deep desire for study. The present paper depicts the main stages in the life of Enea Borza, starting with his studies and continuing with the activity at the prestigious Department of Piano at The National Academy of Music "Gheorghe Dima" of Cluj-Napoca. Enea Borza was one of the most dedicated piano professors and also developed an important activity as a researcher and representative of the artistic world. He had numerous concerts and organized the orchestra of the Academy of Music. Enea Borza taught piano for the young people around Cluj-Napoca and, with tact and devotion, succeeded transmitting the key to the mystery of piano, creating a new generation of piano players. He was the first to publish the Methodology of teaching piano in 7 books, where, with the calmness and determination specific to a teacher, he describes in detail the piano techniques, from the simplest notions to the most complex information in the field. His books are still used nowadays, together with other manuals. Enea Borza was a fine musical critic for classical and contemporary music, publishing many scientific articles in magazines and periodicals from Transylvania. The study also presents how Enea Borza was perceived by his contemporaries - colleagues, students, and cooperators. Short descriptions are followed to present the moral and academic portrait of the professor, musicologist and music critic Enea Borza.
