Summary/Abstract: When it comes to self-education, it usually refers to either the self-activity that defines it or the social context in which the individual and self-education coexist. According to Šefika Alibabić’s definition, self-education is “socially and personally conditioned activity of an individual with the aim of acquiring and expanding and enriching knowledge, skills and developing abilities, with the possibility to do it completely independently or with instructive assistance”. In this paper the author deals with the self-education of medical professionals. The paper is divided into two parts: theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part is about self-education. The empirical study included 8 medical organizations with a total of 60 respondents employed in them. Concluding considerations are provided at the end of the paper.
