Summary/Abstract: The article deals with qualitative and quantitative changes in primary allomorphs of a certain group of Russian verbs. These changes influence the character of the allomorphs. The number of primary allomorphs of Russian verbs may differ, from 1 to 17. The largest frequency is characteristic for morphemes of two, three, and five forms. The moreforms to an allomorph, the fewer there are of such morphemes in the Russian language. The character of an allomorph depends on what alternants are present in the morpheme, on their number and manner in which they combine. The number of alternations is as follows. One, more than one, or all the phonem es in the morpheme can be changed.
