Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article was to concretize the concept of skaz, definition of its bound aries in relation to the works in which the basic compositional trick is “non-author’s” word. However, in these works the “alien” word is exclusively used nominally, being in fact the author’s statement. Poetic works of this type do not possess narrative plot and with the sphere of “non-author” lyric are only formally related. Skaz in poetry has a dual nature: it contains in itself the elements of lyric and epic poetry. The artistic form of skaz in poetry makes possible the faithful presentation of feelings and experiences of a hero (as a rule this is a hero derived from simple people), but at the same time contains the idea of a story, based on events, realized like as if in an oral form by the hero-narrator with the preservation of his socio-linguistic and individual psychological visage. In the article the author defined some kinds of skaz in poetry and presented its main functions in the works of Pushkin, Lermontov, Nekrasov.
