Chrematonyms from the names of rivers (introductory review)

Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the contemporary names of a politico-economic, commercial or cultural institution or thing (chrematonyms) containing the selected hydronyms from the Wisła river basin formed in the process of transonymisation and composition. The collected material has been grouped in the three categories: marketing, social and ideational chrematonyms and within these categories according to the types of objects. The essay presents the structure of chrematonyms and the place and function of the rivers' names in this type of onyms.
