Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to analyze the current state and development prospects of the activities of dancesport clubs in Ukraine. The methodology of the research is based on the application of methods of comparative analysis, comparison, and generalization. Scientific novelty. The author proposes to define a «dancesport club» as an informal institution of an educational and disciplinary type. It is emphasized that the dancesport club is a complex organizational form containing both educational-didactic and artistic-aesthetic aspects directed at the following purpose: to be a distinct approach to the technique of improving ballroom dance instruction based on the principles of autonomous self-organization and continuing education. Conclusions. It is herein argued that the bulk of dancesport clubs and studios that began to appear in Ukraine in the early 1990s existed on account of the self-sufficiency and the public initiatives undertaken by professional circles. It is herein proved that dancesport clubs are precisely oriented but structurally multifunctional informal organization (answerable to the official demands of choreographic education) the activities of which are based on the following principles: mass accessibility, systematicity, consistency, a synthesis of tradition and innovation, clear visibility, drilling and repetition, and self-awareness on the part of students. Questions concerning the improvement of dancesport clubs are tied in with institutional issues, issues concerning the impartation of introductory techniques, and pedagogy. Among the relevant areas, it is worth mentioning the integration of and cooperation between classical and modern styles, which improves and nourishes the educational process by generating new ideas and techniques.
