Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to study the peculiarities of the depiction of Christ the Good Shepherd within the development of the Ukrainian iconography of the Akathist to the Holy Virgin and Akathist to the Lord Jesus Christ cycles in 17-18th centuries. Methodology. The research is based on the method of formal art analysis. The iconological and iconographic methods were used to study the influence of then-existing theological tendencies and cultural preferences on the content of the iconography. The interdisciplinary approach was used to analyze the textual peculiarities of the Akathists, Baroque literary, philosophical, and artistic texts as exemplars for the iconography of Christ the Good Shepherd. Scientific Novelty. The article is the first attempt to examine the image of Christ the Good Shepherd within the development of the Ukrainian iconography of the Akathists cycles in the 17-18th centuries. The textual and artistic basis of this iconography was outlined, the links between the artistic works and their West European exemplars were established. Conclusions. It has been proved that the image of Christ the Good Shepherd was introduced to the Ukrainian art of the 17-18th centuries under the influence of the West European printmaking tradition of that time. The portrayal of Christ the Good Shepherd with the lamb on his back, found in the Akathist to the Holy Virgin and Akathist to the Lord Jesus Christ cycles, is related to the references in the Akathists.
