Summary/Abstract: The aim of the present research was to ensure the conservation and breeding of the Romanian biological background Apis mellifera carpatica through the creation of a bee strain out of the hill-mountain ecotype, respectively Horezu-Vâlcea. The local station where the bee strain has been created is a technological transfer centre, place where the identification of a valuable biological material, its testing, following the transmission of the valuable traits to the progenies, as honey quantity and many other important traits, the selection of the best reproduction material, its multiplication in the own breeding farms and its spreading on the influence zone in order to create a selection pressure have been done. The bee strain has been created in the bio-beekeeping hill-mountain area as result of the intra-familial selection using record bee colony. At each generation of queen daughters, the selection has been done for the traits as the biological evolution, honey quantity, resistance during the winter season. The bee colony has been tested on two generations, and finally, the record bee colony that had the best performances has been selected.
