Summary/Abstract: The article constitutes an attempt at the systematization of the modes of appearance of biblical images and motifs in the Russian literature of the 20 ’s. The literary sources show that the most frequently recalled biblical characters were: Christ, Cain, and Night, and the most frequent motifs: The Last Judgement, the flood, and the promised land. The interpretations of the biblical images were semantically varied.
