SOME OBSERVATIONS ON THE LITERARY BACKGROUND OF FANTASTIC PROSE OF ALEXANDER PUSHKIN

Summary/Abstract: In this article the author discussed examples of the so called internal polemic in fantastic short stories by Pushkin The Coffin Maker and The Queen of Spades with the writer’s contemporary popular fantastic literature with mesmerism as a favourite idea of this literature, with the type of hero described as “sorcerer-magnetizer” with the Russian epigonuses of the horror stories.
