Summary/Abstract: In this article, the author offers a presentation of painting engaged in the depiction of the Anthropocene, as well as participation in the debate on the climate crisis. The positive potential of painting is illustrated on the example of Agata Nowosielska’s works in dialogue with the history of this art discipline, theories formulated on the basis of studies on visual culture, as well as activist discourses. This text addresses the problems of the crisis of aesthetics, the posthuman condition, post-growth, the geological turn in culture and the politics of materials. The pandemic is also a reference, highlighting the inequality in the neoliberal systems of democracies, which the author connects with the artist’s interest in the Baroque, developed in the realities of precarious artistic production.
