Homily 11 of Chrysostom's Hexameron in Manuscript Zogr. 19 from the Library of the Zograf Monastery

Summary/Abstract: The article presents information on an unresearched Old Bulgarian partial translation of the Chrysostom's Hexameron, published in the first part of Zogr. № 19 in the library of the Zograph monastery, a Middle-Bulgarian copy from the third quarter of XIV c. To this day only The Hexameron was known, a translation by John the Exarch, that mainly includes parts of the Hexamerons of Basil the Great and Severian Gavalsky. An unknown Old Bulgarian translation of John Chrysostom's exegesis of the book of Genesis is introduced for the first time in science. A study of the grammatical and lexical characteristics of the language of homily 11 from the Chrysostom's Hexameron proves that the translation emerged in an early stage in the Pliska-Preslav Literary Center. In the XIV c. the language of the translation was partially edited on a morpho-syntactic level but there are traces of grammatical archaisms. The lexicon of the translation was preserved almost unchanged.
