Memories from the Jewish Quarters (2017). Interview with Eng. Florian Grigore

Summary/Abstract: This is a journey inside the Jewish quarters by using memoirs. We are thus able to reconstruct certain aspects of Jewish life and culture in Bucharest. The paper refers to the complete integration of some of the Jews, as well as their social life, occupations, outlook, traditions and places of memory that no longer exist. The memories of computer scientist Florian Grigore, aged 56, who used to live in the Jewish Quarters from the 1960s until the 1980s, refer to a part of Bucharest that was partially demolished some 30 years ago in order to make room for the great project of developing the new civic center of the capital.
