Summary/Abstract: The U.S. is a liberal and elderly-oriented country. That means that the redistribution of welfare is set on the minimum level, but most of (limited) social transfers are addressed to old people. The main objective of this article is to diagnose the conditions of this. We will try to answer the question, why seniors are privileged in the welfare state? What caused that public support is directed in particular to them? We will also try to identify prospects for changes in social policy towards the elderly in the U.S. We will show the direction of its evolution and challenges that it will face in the future.
