Summary/Abstract: The article deals with social rehabilitation institutions for juveniles in Poland (juvenile detention centres, juvenile shelters, youth education centres). These measures are characterized against a more general backdrop of other responses on the part of justice system, which direct the minor into a non-residential facility. The text presents the latest results of research into the level of reoffending (recidivism) by juveniles leaving the latter facilities. The causes of the poor rehabilitation efficiency therein (reoffending level amounting to circa 50%) is not due to poor rehabilitation offer (for it is indeed rich), but due to the shortcomings of the early intervention and after-care system.
