Summary/Abstract: The text uses the concepts of Marc Augé’s non-lieux and Gregory Bateson’s double bind to reflect on the theoretical background of school architecture. It is assumed that the educational space is arranged by the pedagogical imagination, and so the current pedagogy, having been disinherited from its own tradition, tends to generate space unfriendly for students, and hence, unfavourable for education. Taming the place, the author argues, is an extremely important, yet disregarded, aspect of education.
