The Example of Greece from the Perspective of Historical Migration Research

Summary/Abstract: Similar to other regions of South-Eastern Europe, the history of migration relatedto Greece is manifold and includes various processes of immigration and emigration,voluntary movements, forced displacements and different forms of internalmobility.This article seeks to give a general overview on the multifaceted history of Greeceas a country of migration. It discusses new perspectives and fields of researchwith the aim of incorporating the “Greek Story” into an integrative European historyof migration.
