Summary/Abstract: Visual art forms are effective in making previously unseen issues and experiences visible. Here I present an installation called Underbelly and reflect on the phenomena it makes visible, namely hate mail and online misogyny. I argue that these silencing tactics should be taken seriously as questions of everyday security because they can prevent academics from doing our job, particularly as scholar-publicists.
