Summary/Abstract: According to numerous works, whose authors are investigating the reception of Roman law in Poland, the scope of implementing Roman law to the local legal culture has been seriously limited both by political matters and social anexieties. However, one can reach this kind of conclusion only when he accepts as a reference just the Western patterns. Obviously Poland can not be proud of glossators, commentators or any scientific movement like usus modernus pandectarum in Germany. Yet it experienced its own and particular form of reception of Roman law, which should not be considered less interesting. Unfortunately, due to the consequences of the long lasting partitions, it had not have a chance to be systemized and presented in the proper way. At the moment this task seems to be the most urgent challenge for the Polish romanists.
