Summary/Abstract: This study shortly deals with natural gas status of the world and natural gas relations specific to the EU and Turkey. Within this frame the topic of article has been researched in depth as follows: place of natural gas in global sense and outstanding features of natural gas compared to other hydrocarbons, worldwide gas outlook including demand and supply of Turkey and the EU, Turkey’s place in the EU’s energy policies, existing and possible pipeline routes to be able to deliver gas via Turkey to the EU, opportunities and constraints of Turkey to become a gas exporter of the EU and a regional gas hub itself. The topic of article is a current issue. In parallel with increasing demand, states having gas reserves place a great emphasis on energy issues. In this sense while they produce gas in their foreign policies, they keep under control the supply routes transporting extracted sources to the valuable markets. The situation also leads negotiations, cooperations and/or disputes. That’s why energy security is expected to be one of determinant factors directing foreign policies of states on national and international scales in future. In this sense the main objective of the study was to reveal possible and remotely possible gas suppliers and pipeline routes to Europe through Turkey and existing obstacles in realization of these pipelines, possibility of gas imports from Turkey to Europe and chance of Turkey to become a gas hub
