Summary/Abstract: In an analysis of separation effects, borders are usually taken into consideration. However, in addition to country borders, borders within a microregion that are experiencing resistance, for example, county borders, may also exhibit separation effects. In this article the focus is on such borders; a separation effect has been proven in the microregion of Lake Velence and its surroundings (in Hungary). The novelty of the analysis is that the effect of the order of settlements is taken into consideration as proof of its usability. In doing so, a more accurate gravitational model can be built for modelling the number of commuters in the microregion, which, in turn, can be used to predict traffic demand.
