Summary/Abstract: After giving the definition of a sphere of concept the text presents justification of taking up the phenomenon of stereotypy in a broadly understood culture. The article shows the examples of stereotypical images about the Russians. Moreover, it analyses the present situation of the Russian language and its teaching. A poem by Ivan Bunin concludes the article.
