Summary/Abstract: In the present study, the author highlights the personality of the Romanian hierarch Nicodim Munteanu (1864-1948). During his life he went through all the hierarchical steps of our Church: auxiliary bishop, bishop, metropolitan and patriarch of Romania. In all these dignities, he proved to be a missionary, leading theologian and man of culture, gifted with the word of God, a determined and enlightened patriot, qualities that included him among the leading hierarchs of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
