Summary/Abstract: The article considers the key novel by Nobel Prize winner Orhan Pamuk - "The Museum of Innocence", examines how the text reflecting East-West relations in the light of the theory of Maria Todorova. The author discusses how the Balkans created the myth of their history/histories through the experience of subordination and the aspiration to overcome it. One of the common moments in these stories at the beginning of the 21st century is connected to the idea of the adventures of identity with the motive of preserved memory and seeking foot in the own past, in the national vicissitudes and myths that are transforming the Balkans.
