Summary/Abstract: The text describes the reaction of a small river on closure of the metal ore exploitation. Changes in the pollution and composition of representative diatom species have been reconstructed in a river and reservoirs sedi-ments. The rapid recovery of the aquatic system immediately after mine closure was documented, however the re-action was not well reflected in all investigated sediments.
