Summary/Abstract: The main aim of this article is to present the issue of legal linguistics as an interdisciplinary and multidimensional linguistic field. The author discusses the genesis of the discipline, which is derived from both the jurisprudence and the science of language. Then, the author provides the description of the competing names for the discipline placing it in accordance with a well-known range of divisions of linguistic fields. What is more, the research issues of the legal linguistics are also outlined.
