Translation of the neologisms in the Spanish version of Andrzej Sapkowski’s prose

Summary/Abstract: In the presented paper the author tries to investigate the problems that can be related to the translation of neologisms. The analysis of some selected units from the collection of the Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy short stories The Last Wish in the Spanish José María Faraldo’s translation reveals (among other things) the importance of 1) presence of existent morphemes in the neologisms; 2) possible associations which a new word will produce having transferred it to the other linguistic system and 3) grammatical contrasts between the source and the target languages.
