Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the description of intra-sentential and extra-sentential context in automatic translation based on the object oriented approach proposed by W. Banyś. In the process of analyzing and describing a given word in terms of the number of its meanings, in order to solve one of the main problems concerning the automatic translation of texts, which is the phenomenon of polysemy, a linguist comes across different kinds of difficulties. It is often difficult to determine the appropriate meaning of a given word if the analysis is limited to just one sentence in which the word appears. Very often it is necessary to seek for more information outside the sentence, in a much broader context, which is strictly connected with the notion of frames and scripts supplying us with essential data necessary to reveal a correct translation of a given word in the target language. The author of the article presents on the chosen examples how to precisely describe context in the object oriented approach in order for the automatic translation to be accurate
