Summary/Abstract: For us, the message of what happened in the Desert of Quarantania is this: the devil, the adversary of God, will always try to divert man from the Creator’s plan. He can only be overcome with prayer and fasting, which will help us decipher the priorities in our lives and understand that our earthly, transient existence is not everything, but only the antechamber of eternal life in the world beyond ages, in the light and glory of the Most Holy Trinity and that in this life our soul, God, the Law and His commandments must be the most high priority. Christ, through His Passion, crucifixion and death on the Cross, through His terrible suffering, humiliation and torment took away from the Pharisees the keys of the Kingdom. Christ reopened Heaven with His Cross, which He also gave us as a strong weapon against the devil and a key to open the gates of God’s mercy, so that we can enter His Kingdom. For 40 days we were fasting as Christ, the Apostles and the Holy Fathers of the Church told us, but it was not a regular fast as every year, but an extreme one. God allowed this contagious disease, the coronavirus pandemic, to come all over the world, so dangerous and deadly. God allowed this great trial to come, which is in fact a dreadful manifestation of His creation, disturbed by man’s aggression and fall.
