Summary/Abstract: Cybercrime and attacks against information systems have a considerable cross-border dimension. Approximation of laws in the EU improves the judicial cooperation in criminal matters in the EU. This paper deals with a special legislative instrument – a Council Framework Decision 2005/222/JHA on Attacks against Information Systems. The objective of this instrument is to improve cooperation among judicial and other competent authorities of the Member States of the EU through approximating rules on criminal law in the Member States in the area of attacks against information systems. The paper analyses its background, key features and presents current legislative development in the field of combating attacks against information systems.
