An attempt to use Discrete Element Method in solid mechanics

Summary/Abstract: The paper is devoted to Discrete Element Method. Currently the method is mainly used for mechanics of rock. The paper contains the description of the simplest version of the method. Computer simulation using Esys-Particle computer code is presented. The paper is an introduction to the study on the method applications to building engineering.
