Summary/Abstract: In 2016, the Council of Europe defines Competences for a Culture of Democracy. It is from this reflection that the approach to digital citizenship, a set of skills enabling young people to make good use of digital media and technologies while guarding against their dangers, is derived. Schools are called upon to play a key role in the construction of these competences. This publication will define what digital citizenship is and discuss the role of schools in its acquisition.
