Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to compare how public policies on digitization in education have been implemented in Romania and Bulgaria and how they have been transposed from the national to the local level. The starting point of our article is that now, in Romania and Bulgaria, despite the increased demand for data on digital in education, the sources of international statistics on education lack of data on policies in this area. At the same time, the Digital Economy and Society Index – DESI 2019 highlighted that Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Italy had the lowest scores. In the first part, the article presents the national strategies and action plans (in Bulgaria and Romania) to better anchor the digital in education. For the second part we have used the secondary data analysis in order to analyse (both for Bulgaria and Romania) the following: the digital infrastructure and its use in education; the curriculum reform in this area; aspects regarding the teachers training.
