Summary/Abstract: In the article I ask questions about the historical and cultural implication of artistic achievements of KwieKulik duo (Zofia Kulik and Przemysław Kwiek) compared to performers in the 1970s and 1980s from Central and Eastern Europe. I am analyzing, in particular, the method of a “performance for the camera” introduced by them. Therefore I put the thesis that the decision to document the action taken yet before the performance has a significant impact on the char- acter of the work and allows it to evolve towards a new form. The first part of the paper identifies the relations between the art of action and its documentations, the second part discusses the selected actions by KwieKulik implemented within the Workshop of Actions, Documentation and Dissemenation, to conclude on the place of photography in the performance art.
