Summary/Abstract: In this article, based mostly on documents deposited in the National Archives of Romania (mainly the CC of PCR fund-Foreign Relations Section and the Chancellery Section)it is presented the attitude of the Romanian communist leader Nicolae Ceausescu when facing the Chernobyl disaster from the night of 25-26 April 1986 and also the actions taken in the following period.
